My team’s research led to a total of 74 stocks that are closely linked to the 5G rollout.
I don’t just mean the major service providers — I’m talking about companies that build and sell 5G components… companies that own the various pieces of infrastructure… even firms that specialize in testing and streamlining these new networks.
The list also contains companies of all shapes and sizes — from tiny businesses barely out of the startup stage to global industry giants.
At first, we figured this list would just help us identify new plays. But as the data came together, we realized we had the potential to do much, much more.
In the end, we ended up creating what we believe is the world’s first 5G stock index.
As you probably know, a stock index is a tool that analysts use to track various groups of stocks.
The best-known indexes are the S&P 500, the Nasdaq Composite and the Dow Jones Industrial Average. You can look at them to get a general feel for how stock prices have performed over any given period… and predict where they will go in future.
Our index will do the same thing for 5G companies — helping us gauge how they’re doing against the general market… and giving us a baseline for predicting future moves in the industry.
Now, as you saw, there are some very big companies in our index. And we don’t want them to distort what’s happening with the smaller companies.
That’s why we’ve made it an equal-weighted index. In other words, a $200 billion company’s performance has the same impact on the index as a company with a market cap of only $80 million.
We’ve already done some historical analysis of our new index — discovering some interesting things in the process!
